4.5 Stars/Friends to Lovers/Spicy

First off, I loved this book. I read it in two sittings and could not put it down. A Long Time Coming follows Lia as she is preparing for her wedding, dealing with a crazy MIL, and attempting to cope with the loss of her parents. Throughout it all, she leans on her best friend, Breaker, who is there for her no matter what.

Without giving spoilers, I just want to say that this book actually made me laugh out loud, and that I absolutely fell in love with the entire cast of characters. This was the first Cane Brothers book that I read, and I plan to pick up more of them! There were no plot points that I felt like I was behind on or missing from not having read the previous books, so it definitely works as a stand-alone.

I love, love, LOVED this story. First of all, we love to see "nerdy" main characters who love to knit, play board games, and collect memorabilia. Lia and Breaker had a genuine friendship, and not a friendship that was secretly hiding romantic feelings. This gave their relationship so much authenticity and a depth that you rarely see in books. The book was perfectly paced, sprinkled with laugh-out-loud humor (without trying too hard), and one of the most genuine love stories I've ever read. It was well-written and thoughtfully put together.

10/10 recommend and I am screaming at you to go read this book! Lia and Breaker will forever live in my heart and I am missing them already.
